The Bible's Role in our Faith Journey - Books

Greetings all.  At the encouragement of Andrew, I want to start a discussion that came out of a few others (Word of God, Cultural Context in Reading the Bible).  I tend to lean towards the historical/narrative approach to the Scriptures as opposed to a fundamentalist/literalist approach.  I’ve read alot of McLaren, Wright, Newbigin, etc.  This topic is covered by these authors and others, but I was wondering what people have read/are reading that deals with this topic more specifically?  I’m a seminary student as well as a full time computer geek (for now), and will be taking a Biblical Interpretation class starting next week. Some of the assigned reading includes Vanhoozer, as well as books such as The Art of Reading Scripture and The Drama of Scripture.  What are some good resources that address this topic?

Thanks,

Rob (still struggling to understand the role of the bible in our walk)

I am finding this rather late, but I wanted to point you to Stephen Fowl’s Engaging Scripture and also the book he edited, Theological Interpretation of Scripture.

Blessings,
