The humility of God

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and humble in heart and you shall find rest for your souls.

The above verse is the basis for a theological construct for the open source theology needed to progress Christianity into the ages.

Please feel free to deconstruct or build upon these offerings.

The heart of God is full of humility. I think this may be His chief character trait. Is it from the heart the mouth speaks? Our sin is fully exposed by the humility of God. I think also, with the definition of love to follow, we can see that Jesus is genuinely God in the flesh.

Sin. Simply put sin is what is left when humility does not exist. We as humans do not have humility. It does not occur naturally in our hearts, we have to learn it. We humans are arrogant, we do not like to admit fault, wrong doing, and we go to great lengths to save face. We stand before God while He is washing our feet. All “sinful acts” are a result of this lack of humility.

Love is the tangible manifestation of gentleness and humility. God is love. We learn humility from God then manifest it in love. You could say then , and who would argue, that every loving act comes directly from the sacred heart of God. Prayer is a major conduit to remind us of our arrogance and our need to humbly bow to meet God face to face. Yes, we think that we aren’t arrogant but compared to God we are on the same footing as Satan.

Christmas may be the most enduring manifestation of Gods humility. The Christmas story is not just for drama, it tells us of God’s love at every step by every tangible manifestation of humility narrated. The life of Jesus continues this manifestation of what is in the heart of God even to death on a cross.

With the heart of God as the core to a reframed theology we can have a theology that leads us into behavior that is acceptable to God and to future generations.
